Monroe City Hosts Centralia in Key Clarence Cannon Conference Clash

Lankford Field will be the site of another key Clarence Cannon Conference football game Friday night when Monroe City hosts Centralia. Monroe City is coming off their first regular season loss since October 1st, 2021. Monroe City coach David Kirby explains the key to re-focusing the team after last week’s defeat to South Shelby.

Monroe City remains in the top ten rankings in Class 2 at number nine. They face a Centralia squad that comes in 4-0 and ranked fifth in Class 3. Kirby discusses the challenges of facing Centralia.

Centralia is coming off a 33-0 win last week against Brookfield. Quarterback Cullen Bennett has thrown for over 170 yards and at least one touchdown in each game this season. Coach Tyler Forsee says they’ll have a challenge dealing with Moroe City’s defense.

Monroe City has forced eight turnovers this season including five defensive touchdowns. Forsee says they’ll be facing a motivated Monroe City team this week.
