Moberly Sweeps Hannibal Behind Baker and Bivins Big Nights

The Moberly Spartans needed an extra session to take down the Hannibal Pirates, while the Lady Spartans separated from the Lady Pirates in the NCMC opener Tuesday night at Korf Gymnasium. Game two of the night provided the dramatics as the Spartans secured a 60-55 win in overtime. Moberly came out after a full timeout trailing by two near the end of regulation.

Bivins stepped up for the Spartans in OT after being fouled on a three-point attempt.

The junior converted seven of nine free throws in the extra frame to finish with 19 points. The win pushes Moberly to 4-2, surpassing last year’s win total of three. Coach Brett Boyer.

Boyer praised Bivins for contributing beyond just scoring.

CJ Anderson led Hannibal with 18 points. The Pirates fall to 2-3 on the season.

The Lady Spartans created separation in the second half for a 60-42 win earlier in the night. Senior Haley Baker caught fire from range in the third.

Baker finished with a season-high 20 points to lead Moberly. Coach Tony Vestal was proud of his senior guard.

Asa Fanning matched Baker with 20 points of her own. Hannibal’s Mariah Mayfield dropped 19 points in the defeat. Moberly improves to 5-1 with Hannibal dropping to 4-2.
