Moberly Looks to Continue Winning Ways in Showdown With Kirksville

The Moberly boys soccer team brings a five-game winning streak into their Thursday night game with Kirksville. The winning streak includes victories against defending Class 2 state champion Marshall and Fulton. Coach Bridger Pretz says those wins will serve them well heading towards the postseason.

The Spartans bring a 10-4 record into this meeting with the Tigers. Moberly features a balanced offensive attack with 16 different goalscorers on the season. They defeated Kirksville back on September 7th 3-1. Pretz expects a tough rematch with the Tigers.

The Tigers are 6-6 on the season. After allowing seven goals across back-to-back defeats to Moberly and Hannibal to start the season, the Tigers have allowed just eight goals over the last ten games. Coach Shawn Meintz explains the defensive improvement.

The Tigers are coming off a narrow 2-1 loss to Hannibal, who are currently undefeated in the NCMC. Offensively the Tigers are led by Will Tiedemann with eleven goals. Meintz says success against Moberly starts with his backline.

Pregame coverage will begin at 6:20 pm on KWIX 1230 AM and 92.5 FM, as well as online at centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
