Mizzou Wins Season Opener

The Mizzou football team beat Louisiana Tech 52-24 to open the 2022 season Thursday night at Faurot Field. After giving up a 33-yard field goal in the first quarter, the Tigers claimed the lead on the first play in the second, on former Truman State Bulldog Cody Schrader’s first score as a Tiger, on a five yard touchdown run. That was followed by a 29-yard Joseph Charleston pick-six two plays later. The Tigers held a 24-10 lead at halftime. Schrader, from Lutheran South, finished with 17 carries for 70 yards and a score, and Luther Burden from East St. Louis ran for one touchdown and caught another; and Brady Cook from Chaminade completed 18 of 27 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown, with one pick, and rushed seven times for 61 yards and a score. Burden said the guys from the Metro played strong.

As for the offense…

Mizzou will be at Kansas State next Saturday. We’ll have the pregame at 9 and kickoff at 11 on 99.9, The Captain.
