Missourians Reminded to Take Proper Safety Precautions While Out on the Water

Missourians will take to the state’s waterways this summer. However, there are a number of safety precautions that need to be kept in mind while out on a river or lake. Monroe County conservation agent Jessica Filla says one of the biggest is to use sunscreen.

A lack of shade and the sun magnifying off of the water increase the need to re-apply sunscreen. Filla says those going out on a boat need to make sure it is equipped with several different safety devices.

Filla adds much of her summer will be spent making sure Monroe County waterways are safe.

Filla also reminds Missourians to take the necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated on the water.
