Among the Senate’s tweaks is to allow land that is already foreign owned in Missouri to be grandfathered in. Foreign entities would also be banned from buying Missouri land after August 28th. The Senate’s discussion became combative over issues of national security and private property rights. Toalson Reisch says national security needs to be the priority.

The Senate approved the bill 31-3. Approximately three-tenths of one percent of Missouri land is foreign-owned.
