Work on Phase Two of upgrades for the Macon County Enhanced 911 system is nearing completion. The Director of Macon County Enhanced 911, Michael Kindle, says the work involves replacing radio consoles with new IP radio control systems.

The upgrades are expected to be completed within the next couple of weeks. Once that is done, the third phase will merge the systems of several area counties together.

The third phase is expected to be completed in just over a year. Once that is finished, Kindle says area residents will see some noticeable changes.

The second phase of the upgrades will cost $120,000 while the third phase will cost $800,000. Both are being paid for through grants from the Missouri 911 Service Board.
