Macon City Council Looking to Resolve Issues With Municipal Utility Board

Following a heated meeting on Tuesday night, the Macon City Council is attempting to resolve issues with the Macon Municipal Utility Board. The meeting agenda featured an ordinance creating the Macon Municipal Utility Advisory Board. Mayor Tony Petre told Regional Radio, “Insubordination of the board members in stepping outside of ordinances in law in which they’re supposed to follow has led us to the position of dissolving that board and putting an advisory board in place .”

Following public testimony at the meeting, the city council voted to postpone the ordinance to attempt to reconcile with the board prior to next month’s meeting.
