Luetkemeyer Opposes Government Shutdowns

Two weeks ago, Congress approved a last-minute funding plan to avoid a government shutdown. Missouri Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer says Congress was stuck with a bad bill, but they had to do something.

He also says it was important to keep credit agencies from further downgrading U.S. securities, as one of the three major agencies, Fitch, already did this summer.

Luetkemeyer says he would support a plan to avoid future shutdowns.

The measure only funds the government through November 17th. Luetkemeyer expects a bill again next month to get to the end of the calendar year, when one percent budget cuts would automatically take effect.
