Local Foods Workshop in Hannibal Next Week
University of Missouri Extension will host a “Selling Local Foods” workshop in Hannibal next Friday. Jennifer Schutter is with the Adair County Extension office.
Morning sessions will focus on food safety and the regulations related to growing, processing and selling local foods as well as best marketing practices. Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services staff will cover Missouri’s Cottage Food Rule that allows for production of baked goods, jams and dried herbs in home-based kitchens. In the afternoon, sessions will cover alternative markets such as community supported agriculture, restaurants and small grocers. The workshop is from 9 until 4 next Friday at the Admiral Coontz Armory at 301 Warren Barrett Drive. The cost is ten dollars, and that includes lunch. Registration is due by Monday.
