Jon Bishop Departs Fayette After Six Years

Fayette boys basketball coach Jon Bishop recently stepped down from his position following a six-year stint with the Falcons. Bishop discusses what led to his decision to depart Fayette.

Bishop’s next destination will be South Callaway for an undetermined teaching and coaching role.

The Falcons had winning seasons in each of Bishop’s first three years, compiling a 46-27 record during that time. That was followed by three consecutive losing records including a 4-22 mark with a young roster this past season. Prior to coming to Fayette, Bishop coached one year at Humansville and ten at Higbee. He says his time at Fayette has been rewarding.

Despite a tough final season, Bishop feels the future is bright for the Falcons.

Brandon Friebe, who last coached the Falcons in 2008, will take over for Bishop in the upcoming season. Both Fayette and South Callaway will be part of the newly-formed Central State 8 Conference next season.
