Interim Tag Removed-Dean Named Truman Womens Basketball Head Coach

Less than five months into the job, the “interim” tag has been removed and Theo Dean is the 11th head coach of the Truman State University women’s basketball program.

The University made the official announcement Monday morning. Truman Director of Athletics Jerry Wollmering discusses the decision to make the move at mid-season.

Theo Dean has guided the Bulldogs to a school-record 5-0 start in Great Lakes Valley Conference play and a first place tie with Drury and Lewis. He still didn’t anticipate the promotion coming now.

This is Dean’s first head coaching job. He thanks the players for helping with the transition.

When former coach Amy Eagan abruptly departed the Bulldog program for Drury the first week of classes, Dean was named interim head coach. He had served as Eagan’s top assistant the previous three years. Dean’s first Truman team is 9-3 and will host Illinois-Springfield on Thursday night.
