Governor Parson Thanks First Responders, Community Members for Mendon Amtrak Response

Governor Mike Parson visited Northwestern High School in Mendon yesterday to thank first responders and community members for providing assistance following the June 27th Amtrak train derailment near Mendon.

The accident left four people dead and many others injured. The crossing on County Road 113 did not have crossing arms. Parson adds the state continues to evaluate how to make railroad tracks safer.

Around 275 passengers and 12 crew members were on board the train. The Northwestern School District assisted around 150 passengers.
