The Great Lakes Valley Conference Council of Presidents has voted to postpone the majority of the fall athletic season to the second semester. The fall sports of football, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball will have regular-season competition and GLVC Championships conducted in the second semester, while the sports of men’s and women’s cross country will still be permitted to compete this fall with the 2020 GLVC Cross Country Championships slated for October 24th. Men’s and women’s golf and tennis will also be allowed to compete in their non-championship segments in the fall and continue their season into the spring when their respective championship seasons begin.

As for winter sports, a deadline of October 1st was set to determine what to do with basketball and wrestling. The GLVC winter sports of swimming and diving, indoor track and field and bowling can proceed as scheduled.

The GLVC is the first midwest conference to postpone most of the fall seasons to second semester. There are 10 other NCAA Division II conferences out of 23 that have voted to postpone fall athletics until after the first of the year.

The NCAA has yet to determine the final status of its fall national championships. That will weigh into how the GLVC puts together a framework for schedules in the second semester.
