Freeze Looking to Heat up Auburn

The Hugh Freeze era is set to begin for Auburn football. The former Ole Miss head coach takes over for Bryan Harsin and interim coach Cadillac Williams following a rough 5-7 season in 2022. Freeze says he has experience in turning around football programs.

Freeze spent five years at Ole Miss before resigning after the 2016 season following numerous recruiting and academic violations. He spent the past four seasons at Liberty where he led the fledgling FBS program to a 34-15 mark. Freeze discusses what its like attracting players to come play at Auburn.

Between transfers and recruits the Tigers have 42 new players on the roster in 2023. Among those is Vanderbilt transfer Elijah McCallister. McCallister discusses what attracted him to playing for Freeze.

Auburn has five transfers along the offensive line. Senior offensive lineman Kameron Stutts says the newcomers are meshing well.

After a disastrous start last season under Harsin, the Tigers turned the season around by going 2-2 under Williams. The former Auburn running back remains on staff under Freeze. He is hopeful they can maintain the momentum they gained under Williams.

Auburn opens the season at home on September 2nd against UMass. They open SEC play three weeks later at Texas A&M. The Tigers conclude the regular season with the Iron Bowl against Alabama on November 25th.
