Football Plans for New Conference Still in Progress

Last week a new conference was announced that included current Lewis & Clark Conference members Harrisburg and Fayette. The new conference also features Russellville, South Callaway, Linn, New Bloomfield and Eugene. The move for Harrisburg and Fayette was done in part to maintain a full schedule for eleven-man football. Harrisburg Superintendent Steve Combs says the makeup for football in this conference is unique.

Harrisburg is also fairly new to football having started its program in 2013. The new league has tentative plans to start with five football playing members. Combs says there are options for additional membership.

Representatives from each member school have begun working out sports schedules for the 2024-25 season. Combs says the new conference is focused on steady growth.

Each member school of the new conference will continue play in its current league for the upcoming school year.
