A pilot program will allow Missouri Farm Bureau to issue permits to producers that are dealing with black vultures preying on their young calves and other livestock. Kelly Smith is director of Farm Bureau’s Marketing and Commodities program, which will manage the permitting process.

Smith says applications will be scored based upon the level of vulture infestation and its impact on livestock production in their county. He notes that Farm Bureau has a limited number of permits they are authorized to issue.

Permit applications and more information about black vulture depredation efforts are available from Kelly Smith at Missouri Farm Bureau, by calling 573-893-1416.
