Area county commissioners joined KWIXLand This Morning last week to discuss the Grain Belt Express project which is being planned by Invenergy. The project would create an 800-mile high-voltage direct current (HVDC) electric transmission line that would run across Kansas, northern Missouri, and into Illinois. Chariton County commissioner Evan Emmerich says his residents are very concerned about the project.

Ralls County Commissioner John Lake says they’re in the same situation as Chariton County.

The Missouri House and Senate has attempted multiple times to pass legislation prohibiting “for-profits” from using eminent domain on projects, but it has failed multiple times.
