Columbia Police Make Arrest in 1984 Rape Case

Columbia Police have made an arrest in connection to a 1984 rape and attempted murder case. Communications and Outreach Supervisor Toni Messina says the rape occurred on the 4000 block of Wellington Drive and was reported on March 24, 1984.

Wilson was apprehended at his home in Mooresville, North Carolina Wednesday and charged with forcible rape with a weapon and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. Assistant Police Chief Jeremiah Hunter says Wilbarger’s breakthrough in the case came around a month ago.

Wilson is being held at the Iredell County Jail on a one million dollar bond and will eventually be extradited to Columbia.
