Columbia Police Arrest Suspect Following Morning Standoff

A Columbia man is behind bars following an early morning standoff. Columbia Police arrested 41-year-old Leon Aldemar Francois White III of Columbia early Saturday morning following a reported disturbance at a residence in the 900 block of Moss Street. It was reported that after White was involved in a domestic disturbance he barricaded himself inside the residence with two kids. White was believed to be armed and the Columbia Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams were called in while a perimeter was formed around the residence. Following a period of negotiations, White surrendered without further incident. He is facing charges of domestic assault, child endangerment, and resisting arrest. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
