After being held later in the summer last year, the Centralia Anchor Festival returns to the first weekend in June this year. The event will begin tomorrow and run through Sunday. Centralia Chamber of Commerce Director Ginny Zoellers says its nice to be back on their traditional weekend.

A total of nine different acts will provide entertainment over the three day event. Jason Brown will be the first performer tomorrow night at 6. The annual Anchor Festival Parade will get underway at 6:45. Zoellers says they’re happy to bring back the antique tractor show on Saturday.

The Anchor Driving Contest will follow at 11. The first earth anchor was invented in Centralia in 1912. Zoellers says this festival is meant to honor that invention.

The inaugural Centralia Anchor Festival was held in 1987. For more information on this year’s event, visit the Centralia Anchor Festival Facebook page.
