Carly Dorson Reflects on Strong Senior Season at New Franklin

New Franklin’s Carly Dorson finished her varsity basketball career strong this year as she received her first KRES All-Star honor, was named to the CAC All-Conference team and played a pivotal role in the Lady Bulldogs’ run to a district championship. Dorson says it was rewarding to help lead the Lady Bulldogs to their first district crown since 2017.

Dorson adds the district title came at the end of a long four-year journey for New Franklin.

One common denominator along Dorson’s basketball career at New Franklin was seventh-year head coach Morgan Grosse. Dorson credits Grosse with pushing the team forward.

Dorson was part of a strong senior corps. for the Lady Bulldogs that also featured Kelsi Fair and Emma Rice. The roster also included a strong group of underclassmen. Dorson says mentoring the younger players was a rewarding part of the season.

New Franklin concluded the season with a 20-9 record. The season ended with a Sectional loss to eventual state champion Tipton.
