Boonville’s Hunziker Claims KRES Coach of the Year Honors For Second Time in Career

For the second time in his career, Boonville’s Jaryt Hunziker has been named girls KRES Coach of the Year. Hunziker took the 2021 honor after guiding the Lady Pirates to a 28-2 record, and their first state championship in program history. Hunziker says the award goes to more than him.

Hunziker took over the Boonville program back in 2013 after spending four years as the head girls basketball coach for Scotland County. The 2001 Culver-Stockton graduate also had a stops at Clark County and a second stint at Scotland County as head boys basketball coach.

Hunziker had several mentors along the way to get to the point of being a state champion head coach.

The Girls KRES Coach of the Year is still taking in the Class 4 state title.

Hunziker previously won the award in 2015.
