Boonville And Tolton Capture 3rd Place Trophies At The Girls State Golf Championships

The Boonville and Father Tolton golf teams brought home 3rd Place trophies from the state tournaments in Classes 2 and 3. Boonville finished 26 strokes behind champion Osage in Class 2. Osage was the district champion at Heritage Hills in Moberly. Kirksville finished in 7th place as a team. Father Tolton finished 31 strokes behind Glendale in Class 3. The Lady Blazers were led by the individual state champion in Audrey Rischer, who fired a pair of 77’s to win by one stroke. Cairo was 5th in Class 1 with a two-day score of 960, which was 25 strokes away from a 4th place trophy. Tarkio won the state championship by 83 strokes. Helias tied for sixth in Class 3 at 111 strokes back.

In Class 1, at the Country Club of Missouri in Columbia, Putnam County’s Abbie Koenen was sixth with a 205, 16 strokes back. Kady Couch of La Plata also medaled, in 15th with a 214. Avery Martin of Cairo and Macie Paris of Glasgow were seven strokes out of the medals in a tie for 21st at 221. At 222, Marceline’s Tess Sheerman finished 23rd. In Class 2, at Silo Ridge in Bolivar, Kirksville’s Addison Davis was in 7th, 26 strokes back at 170. Fulton’s Grace Ousley was 14th at 179. Zoey Lang of Boonville was one stroke away from an All-State medal (16th-181) and her teammates, Hannah LeGrant was three strokes away (18th-183) and Payten Black was nine strokes away (20th-189). In Class 3, at Columbia Country Club, Helias’s Sophia Hinds tied for 8th at 170, 16 strokes off the pace. Katherine Ryan was tied for 11th at 171. In Class 4, at Twin Hills in Joplin, Rock Bridge’s Tierney Baumstark was in a three-way tie for second, six strokes off.
