The Boone County Fair’s return to Columbia will have to wait another year. City of Columbia officials determined Friday that the fair would be canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In a press release statement, Columbia City Manager John Glascock cited concerns with being able to maintain social distancing and disinfecting efforts in order to hold the fair. The Boone County Fair had been held for the past four years in Sturgeon. The fair was set to move back to Columbia this year on a new 134-acre fairground along Highway 63. The Boone County Fair plans to bring the fair back to Columbia in 2021.
