For the past several months crews have been working on constructing a new agriculture building for the Monroe City School District. With progress moving smoothly attention has turned to the next phase of the project, construction of a new elementary school. The Monroe City School Board approved bids for this portion of the project this week. Monroe City Superintendent Dr. Tracy Bottoms outlines some of the details of the bids.

Construction on the new agriculture building is expected to be completed by the start of March. Bottoms says once that is completed work will begin on the new elementary building.

Bottoms is hopeful crews will begin to move dirt at the site of the new elementary school by the start of June.
