Basye Shares Details on Letter Calling For Special Session

Missouri’s Education Committee chairs are calling for a special session to prevent teaching the critical race theory or the 1619 Project. State Representative Chuck Basye drafted a letter earlier this week with State Senator Cindy O’Laughlin to Governor Mike Parson. Basye says this has caught his attention with public schools in Springfield, Columbia, and St. Louis.

Basye says the purpose of calling for a special session is so this can get addressed before the next school year starts.

Basye admitted a special session to address this is unlikely. If that were the case, the Rocheport Republican says it could become a priority bill of his next session.

Basye is entering his final year as a state representative in 2022.
