Autopsy Results Pending from Officer Involved Shooting in Fulton
A Columbia man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Fulton earlier this week. At 10 am on Monday Fulton police officers attempted to stop a vehicle connected to suspicious activity in the 700 block of Hickman Avenue. A short vehicle pursuit took place, before an officer stepped out of their vehicle and the suspect’s vehicle accelerated towards him. The officer fired his weapon which resulted in the suspect, 25-year old Cody McCaulou of Columbia suffering serious injuries. McCaulou was transported to University Hospital in Columbia where he died from his injuries the next day. An autopsy was performed yesterday and the results are currently pending. The officer-involved shooting is currently being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control. In addition, a special prosecutor has been appointed by the Circuit Court of Callaway County to determine whether any criminal charges are warranted.
