ADAIR COUNTY

Adair County incumbent 1st District Commissioner Bill King topped fellow Republican Phillip John Biston with 65 percent of votes. 2nd District incumbent Mark Thompson beat Republican Molly Balliew for the right to face Democrat Karen Carolan. Republican Eldon Grissom won the Adair County sheriff poll over Matt Kellison and Tracy Salsberry. The first-time sheriff Grissom captured 46 percent of votes. Republican Coroner Brian Noe remains in position after 81 percent of votes opposite Chuck Watson.

CHARITON COUNTY

There was one contested local race in Chariton County. Terry Milford defeated Daniel Standley for Western District Commissioner on the Republican ticket (461-to-84). Milford will face Democrat incumbent Danny Price in the November General Election.

HOWARD COUNTY

In contested races in Howard County, Jeff Stockhorst won the Republican party nomination for Eastern District Commissioner, and Matthew Freese for Western District Commissioner, Charlie Polson won the Democratic party nomination for Western District Commissioner. Jeff Oswald also won the Republican party nomination for Sheriff. Voter turnout was about 36 percent.

LINN COUNTY

In local contested races in Linn County, Glen Murrain won a tight race for District 1 County Commissioner on the Republican ticket. Murrain received 399 votes, which was 23 more than Shawn Sayre and 79 more than Jim Hargadine. Murrain will face Democrat Jeff Hill in November. Kjersten Parn easily won the Republican primary for coroner. Parn will face Democrat Roger Rhodes in the November general election.

MONROE COUNTY

In contested races in Monroe County, Marilyn O’Bannon picked up the Republican nomination for Western District Commissioner with 66 percent of the vote over Billy Johnston, Junior. She will face Jack Bush in the general election. Joe Colston won the Republican nomination for Sheriff with 61 percent of the vote over Tyler Wheeler. Monroe County reported 38-and-a-half percent of the registered voters cast ballots.

SHELBY COUNTY

In the one contested county-wide race in Shelby County, Aaron Fredrickson won the Republican nomination for Sheriff with 62 percent of the vote in a four-way race. He will face Democrat Chris Ehrenreich in the general election. 37.7 percent of registered voters cast ballots.

PUTNAM COUNTY

Republican Shane Bradshaw defeated Thomas Carman in Putnam County’s Eastern District Commissioner race. Bradshaw received 63 percent of votes.

RALLS COUNTY

In contested races in Ralls County, John Lake won his Western Commissioner’s race in the Republican primary and will face Mike Roberts in November. Also on the Republican ticket, Brad Stinson won his sheriff’s race, and Robert Van Winkle was elected Coroner.

SCHUYLER COUNTY

In the Schuyler County Republican race for coroner, Julia McNabb beat Victor Farrell, 295 to 275. In the Democratic race for Northern District Commissioner, Jim Werner beat Ryan Groseclose 88-43. 29 percent of the registered voters cast ballots.

SCOTLAND COUNTY

In Scotland County, seven votes decided the Eastern District Commissioner’s race on the Republican ticket. Brent Rockhold received 237 votes, to 230 for Wayne Winn. Rockhold will face Democrat Steve Snodgrass in the general election. The new Scotland County Sheriff is Bryan Whitney, who received 65-percent of the vote to defeat Greg Probst (PRObst). Michelle Vangorkom easily won her Republican primary race over Lisa Grubb for Assessor and is unopposed in November.

SULLIVAN COUNTY

A couple of commissioner races were decided in Sullivan County on the Republican ticket. In the Western 2nd District, Michael Williams defeated Randy Huffman by 19 votes. Rye Page won the Eastern 1st District race.
