Ambroson Named William Jewell Football Coach

Former Moberly High School football coach Jason Ambroson has been named the new Head Coach at William Jewell College. The announcement came late this morning (Sat.). This will be a return to the Liberty campus for Ambroson. He previously served as a coordinator for the Cardinals from 1997-2000.

Before starting a successful run as a high school football coach at Moberly, Ambroson spent time at the NAIA, NCAA-II and NCAA-I levels. While at Jewell he coached running backs and served as the offensive, special teams, and recruiting coordinator. In total with the Cardinals, he coached players who combined for 29 All-Conference honors, one Conference Offensive Player of the Year and three All-America selections.

Ambroson came to Moberly in 2001 where he spent 14 years. After a 1-25 start, Ambroson turned the program around leading the Spartans to their first NCMC, district and sectional titles. His teams won five district championships, and three conference titles, including a pair of undefeated regular seasons Ambroson accumulated an overall mark of 78-46. He has spent the last nine years at Smithville, where he led the Warriors to the Class 4 State Championship in 2021. His career record is 172-91. Ambroson was just inducted into the Missouri Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame earlier this month.

Ambroson becomes the 32nd head football coach in William Jewell history.
