Alex Van Delft Named New Knox County Superintendent

Current Knox County High School Principal Alex Van Delft will take over as the district’s new superintendent ahead of the 2025-26 school year. He will spend next school year working with current superintendent Andy Turgeon, who is retiring. Turgeon says that transition period is important.

Van Delft is a graduate of Macon High School and Truman State University. He spent six seasons as the Knox County head football coach before moving into administration following the 2016 season. Turgeon says its good to turn to someone with the experience Van Delft has.

A new Knox County High School Principal is expected to be hired in March.
