Woman Faces Charges After Shooting at Car With Ex Inside

A Columbia woman was arrested for first-degree domestic assault, first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and tampering with a motor vehicle in connection with shots fired in a parking lot early Sunday morning. Columbia Police say around 3, officers responded to the 200 block of East Texas Avenue. They determined the woman, 25-year-old Laronya Brown, had pulled up to a parked vehicle with two people inside, and fired a gun at it, but did not injure anyone. A man in the car, who had previously been in a relationship with her, returned fire, hitting her. She was admitted to a local hospital. He was not charged, as police determined it was in self defense.
