WLAC Regional Champion Recaps Competitive Experience

Northeast Kansas livestock auctioneer Andrew Sylvester made his first trip to the Midwest qualifier of the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship count, finishing first out of 30 competitors.  Sylvester explains the criteria judges used to evaluate him and the other contestants.

Sylvester said one of the biggest challenges that he and others dealt with was working with unfamiliar ringmen during the competition.  However, he notes the support they received from just behind the hammer.

Andrew Sylvester is an auctioneer at the Manhattan Commission Company in Kansas.  He and nine other contestants from last month’s Midwest qualifier will compete in June at the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship in Indiana, sponsored by the Livestock Marketing Association.
