Salisbury’s final push with under a minute to go in the game was halted by the Westran Hornets as time expired in a 16-14 finish in Huntsville. It was a defensive struggle all night, with minimal offense in the first half. Langden Kitchen turned a short pass into a 46-yard gain towards the end of the half to set the Hornets up deep in Panther territory. Cooper Harvey connected with Kitchen once again on a short throw for the first score of the night.

The Panthers responded late in the third quarter on a 29-yard Ryan Binder scramble for a touchdown with a successful 2-PT conversion catch by London White to tie the contest up.
Nate Kribbs finished off a Westran fourth quarter drive with a four yard touchdown. Once again the Hornets went for two and were successful on a Korbin Perry rush. Salisbury found their answer with 3:07 to go in the game.
An attempt to tie the game with a 2-PT conversion, was unsuccessful keeping the score 16-14. The Hornets got the ball after a failed onside kick attempt by the Panthers, and ultimately were stopped on fourth down. Salisbury had no timeouts left to begin their final drive, when a Eli Jackson deep ball put the Panthers in Hornet territory. Ultimately the clock ran out on Salisbury and that is how the game concluded.
Westran coach Aaron O’Laughlin said his team expected a motivated Panthers squad heading into the matchup.
Oren Magruder of Salisbury felt the Panthers played up to their potential this game compared to last week.
Magruder had words of praise for his senior class after their final game as a Panther.
Coach O’Laughlin said his team winning a close contest will be a confidence boost for his Hornets.
