Westran Lady Hornet Softball Induction In The Missouri Sports Hall Of Fame

You could argue that Westran had the most dominant softball program in the state from 1984-1999. That 15-year era of Lady Hornet Softball will receive induction in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame later this year. The architect, Kelly Odneal, told Magic City Sports Talk listeners how the program took off….

Westran Softball reached 13 Final Four during that stretch. The Lady Hornets won three state championships (1987, ’96 & ’99), had five state runner-up finishes (1984, ’86, ’93, ’97 & ’98), placed third at state four times, and finished fourth once.

Odneal said the sport of softball took off after the 1996 Olympic Games. He said the stronger competition moved him to find ways to keep his program at the top….
