Western Kentucky Farmers Also Impacted By Damaging Tornadoes

Last week’s tornadoes through Kentucky and surrounding states dealt considerable damage to producers along the storm’s path.  Drew Graham, executive vice president of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation, recently surveyed damage on members’ farms and said he was surprised by the extent of the destruction caused by the EF-4 tornado.

Much of the region surrounding Mayfield, which took a direct hit from the tornado, is cropland with a variety of grains and livestock.

Graham says residents and surrounding communities have quickly rallied together to clean up the damage and begin rebuilding.

At least 76 confirmed deaths have been reported in Kentucky.  The commonwealth’s Farm Bureau has partnered with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and University of Kentucky Extension to collect donations for impacted producers.  Click here for the GoFundMe organized by the three agencies.
