A former Moberly resident gets 75 years in prison for the murder of a Poplar Bluff man in 2014. Curtis Walker, now 35, was sentenced Monday for the death of 48-year-old Salvador Ruiz Ramirez. Ramirez’s body was found on the banks of the Black River in October 2014. Walker admitted he killed Ramirez, but he told the court he had acted in self-defense. When the victim’s body was found, authorities discovered his home had been burglarized and then set on fire. It took a Butler County jury only 38 minutes in April to find Curtis Walker guilty. Walker gets 30 years for murder, 30 for armed criminal action and 15 for burglary.
