Wainwright Returning For 2022

The Cardinals and Adam Wainwright agreed to a one-year contract extension for 2022.
President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak said it was important to get the deal done.
Next year will be Wainwright’s 18th. He debuted for the Cardinals in September of 2005. This year, the 40-year-old Wainwright is 17-7 with a 3.05 ERA and three complete games over 206 1/3 innings. He says next year will likely be his last.
Wainwright ranks third all-time among Cardinals in wins, second in strikeouts and 6th in innings pitched. He will start the wild card game next Wednesday.
