VEHICLE CRASH CAUSES SIGNIFICANT POWER OUTAGE IN MEXICO
Mexico Public Safety reports a large section of Mexico suffered power outages or power fluctuations about 8:30am Monday morning. Authorities responded to the 4800 block of East Liberty (US Highway 54) for a vehicle crash that caused the power issues. They learned a pickup truck driven by 62-year-old Donna Delp of Mexico headed northbound on Christopher Drive (MO Route JJ) when it failed to stop or turn at the intersection with East Liberty (US Highway 54). The pickup left the roadway and drove up the guy-wires of a utility pole. The vibration caused several power lines to cross or touch and prompt power issues throughout Mexico. An ambulance transported Delp to a Mexico hospital for minor injuries. Ameren responded to stabilize the power situation.
