Vandalia Man Killed In Ralls County Accident On Route 61

A Vandalia passenger was killed in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 61 in Ralls County Friday night just after 7:00. The State Highway Patrol reports a vehicle driven by 27-year old Ian Smith of Vandalia was southbound on Highway 61 about two miles north of New London when it went off the right side of the roadway and overturned. A passenger, 24-year old Shawn Wise of Vandalia was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Smith was not injured.
