USDA Climate-Smart Grants Emphasize Opportunities For Minority-Owned, Smaller Farms

USDA recently announced the recipients of more than $2.8 billion in grants for a series of projects encouraging the adoption of climate-smart practices.  Another round of grants will be announced later this fall for smaller projects, focusing on minority-owned and other farms considered underserved by previous USDA programs.  Undersecretary for Farm Programs and Conservation Robert Bonnie…

An estimated $700 million is expected to go to the second round of programs.  Bonnie stresses that a team at USDA will track the programs’ progress, not only in meeting their goals but how recipients are using their grants.
