Weather permitting, a pavement improvement project will begin September 13th on U.S. Route 36 in Shelby and Marion Counties. The project will cover nearly seven miles of highway from just west of Route Z near Hunnewell to just under a mile west of Business Route 36 west junction at Monroe City. Crews will be actively working on full-depth pavement repairs at various locations. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone while the work is completed. Signs, message boards, arrow panels, and temporary rumble strips will all be utilized to alert travelers of the work zone. Emery Sapp and Sons of Columbia was awarded the project at a cost of 253,000 dollars. Work is scheduled to be completed by early October.
