On the heels of operating losses during its third quarter, Tyson Foods has announced the closure of four chicken facilities, including a pair in Southern Missouri. The Northwest Arkansas company said Monday morning it would close its plants in Dexter and Noel, as well as one location each in Arkansas and Indiana. The plants would cease operations by next spring, with production shifted to other facilities. Tyson had announced the closure of two plants earlier in the year. The company’s chicken operations contributed to much of the net operating income loss reported for this quarter of $350 million. Overall sales were down three percent at $13.1 billion.
