Current Northwestern R-I Principal Tyler Walker will soon have a new job in a new location. Walker was recently hired to become the new Higbee School Superintendent beginning in the 2021-22 school year. Walker discusses the interview process he took part in at Higbee.

Walker will officially take over as Higbee Superintendent in July. He will serve out his role as principal at Northwester R-I in Mendon for the remainder of the current school year. Walker says he will work to get to know the Higbee community between now and then.

Prior to becoming principal at Northwestern R-I, Walker started his teaching and coaching career at Atlanta. He later served as the at-risk coordinator and athletic director for the Atlanta School District. Walker says one lesson he’s learned from his previous work experience is to get to know the community.

Walker will take over for Danielle Tuepker, who recently announced her retirement at the end of the school year.
