Two Tornadoes Reported During KRES Radar Coverage

Two tornadoes were reported by the National Weather Service during our three-plus hours of continuous radar coverage on KRES last night. The one in our listening area was five miles east of Linneus in Linn County. There were multiple reports of damage in the vicinity of the tornado. There was also the report of a tornado four miles west southwest of Trenton, in Grundy County. Hail as large as baseball size was reported east of Trenton. There were other reports in the Gilman City and Jamesport areas of northwest Missouri of hail the size of softball or grapefruit.

The severe thunderstorm moved along Route 36 through Macon County and into western Shelby County before diminishing in intensity, with multiple reports of hail in the storm. For a time, there was a tornado warning for Macon County that extended into northwest Chariton and northern Randolph County. Sirens were sounded in Randolph County, but the storm stayed to the north and never impacted the county.
