Two Seventh Inning Home Runs Help Vienna Edge Salisbury

Vienna edged Salisbury 5-4 in a Class 1 semifinal thanks to some late inning heroics. Salisbury grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second before Vienna chipped away with two runs in the third and one in the fourth. The 3-3 tie held until Brooke Bartholomew led off the bottom of the sixth.
Austin Ward with the call on 99.9 The Captain. Vienna’s bats then stepped up when it mattered most.
Salisbury coach Kathryn Bachtel wasn’t surprised that Vienna was able to complete the comeback.
Bachtel concludes her first year leading the Salisbury softball program.
Salisbury ends it season 22-6 and will return seven of nine starters to next year’s team.
