Two people are dead and two others seriously injured following a crash at the intersection of Highways 54 and 154 between Vandalia and Curryville around 12:50 Sunday morning. The State Highway Patrol says a car driven by 22-year-old William MacFarlane of Hannibal failed to stop at the stop sign and was hit head on by a semi driven by 56-year-old Monte Jackson from Greentown, Indiana. Two passengers in the car, 19-year-old Miguel Mendez of New London and 23-year-old Jacob Hamm of Hannibal were pronounced dead at the scene. MacFarlane and 23-year-old Brandon Leake of Hannibal were seriously hurt. MacFarlane was taken to Columbia. Leake was taken to Quincy. The truck driver was not hurt.
