The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two people in connection with the 2017 murder of 29-year-old Benjamin Renick of New Florence, Missouri. The night of June 8th, 2017, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a deceased person at Renick’s Reptiles in New Florence. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a male subject, later identified as Benjamin Renick, dead in the building. An examination of the body revealed that Renick died from a gunshot wound. Investigators from the Troop F Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office started a joint homicide investigation. Thursday, investigators arrested 31-year-old Lynlee J. Renick and 35-year-old Michael K. Humphrey. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident. Renick and Humphrey are being held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
