The Thanksgiving holiday, along with wet weather throughout the week, slowed Missouri farmers down in their push to complete harvest. The USDA’s weekly Crop Progress report indicates that corn harvest is now 95 percent complete, the first time in five years that corn harvest wasn’t completed by December first. The soybean harvest is 96 percent complete, falling behind last year’s mark of 98 percent. Five percent of the Bootheel’s cotton remains in the field. Because of multiple delays in the growing season, the USDA is continues to compile weekly updates into December, and is scheduled to have another update next Monday.
