Truman Swept At Rockhurst

The Truman basketball teams had a rough night in Kansas City getting swept at Rockhurst.

The Bulldog women were held to a season-low point total in a 53-44 loss. The Hawks won despite shooting just 27-percent from the field. The GLVC’s leading scorer, Hannah Belanger, was held to single digits for the first time this season with nine points. Coach Theo Dean blamed 23 turnovers for the tough offensive night….

Alex Fanning led with 10. Truman falls to 18-9 overall and 14-5 in the GLVC dropping to the 3rd spot in the PRS standings. The Hawks improve to 13-14 and 8-11 in the conference.

In the men’s game, the conference’s leading scorer, Rich Byhre pumped in 37 points to lead Rockhurst to 91-82 victory over Truman. Down 75-71 late, the Bulldogs were able to battle back on top with a minute left….

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Hunter Strait led Truman with 20. Byhre was fouled on the next Hawks’ possession and hit one-of-two free throws with 41 seconds remaining. After both teams missed shots the game went into overtime tied at 76. The Hawks scored the first eight points of the extra session and to finish off the Bulldogs. Truman led by as many as 15 with three minutes to go in the first half. Acting Head Coach Josh Beardsley explained the difference in the second half….

The ‘Dogs drop to 12-15 and 7-12 in the GLVC. Rockhurst improves to 15-12 and 10-9 in the league.
